UV mapping is where you take a model that you have made in
Maya and split it up using the unfold tool and then unfold the UV’s. As tedious as this process is it has its benefits,
it makes the model so much easier to texture and allows you to make the texture
look so much better by adjusting the scale of it in the UV port. It also divides the model up which means that
it is much easier to find various parts of the model in the view port and
neatens it up.
